What happens at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party?

Are you going to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year (or thinking of going)?! It’s immense! As you might expect, many dates have sold out already (the cheaper ones go particularly fast!), so have a look for the dates you want and get booking!

When you’re packing your costumes* remember to take the Floridian weather into account: it will be hot, even in October! (*Please see the rules about costumes below).

Party guests can access Magic Kingdom from 4pm and the Party runs from 7pm until 12am. It can be a looooong day, so we’d recommend having a relaxing morning before heading to MK at 4pm.

Pick up a wristband when you arrive and pop it on your right wrist; use it to access rides, entertainment and trick-or-treat spots after 7pm. If you’re already in the Park, you can pick one up from the following spots until 7pm:

  • Near Tortuga Tavern (Adventureland)
  • Fantasy Faire (Fantasyland)
  • Tomorrowland entrance (across from Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor)

After 7pm, you may need to go to the front of the Park to collect a wristband. Ask a Cast Member if you need assistance.

Guide to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Here’s what you can look forward to at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:

  • Trick-or-treating* throughout Magic Kingdom, with a brand-new list of Treat Trails for 2025 (* see below for details of allergy-friendly treats).
  • Exclusive entertainment, including the Boo-to-You Parade, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks, and more!
  • Rare character meet-and-greets, such as Elvis Stitch, Jack & Sally, Mickey & Minnie in costume, and many others!
  • Shorter wait times on many attractions.
  • Halloween overlays on some rides, such Space Mountain which gets ‘spookified’ for the event!
  • Dance parties and eerie extras across the Park.

Major highlights include:

  • The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular: watch in wonder as three sinister sisters bewitch and bedazzle the residents of Magic Kingdom in this stage show, which runs at 9:05pm, 10:35pm and 12am in August and September, with an additional show at 7:35pm during October.
  • Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular: a wickedly wild fireworks display which lights up the night sky! Featuring some much-loved Characters, this stunning event is hosted by Jack Skellington who appears in larger-than-life puppet form (10pm).
  • Boogie on down at the Disney Junior Jam in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café: featuring some favourite friends from Disney Junior shows, this musical hot spot is perfect for young partygoers!
  • Another great place to take your dancing feet is the Zom-Beatz Bash Dance Party: this 20-minute stage show takes place throughout the evening on the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland, so pop in at any time.
  • Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade: watch the fabulous floats and see some beloved Characters go by in this showstopping spectacular, which takes place at 8:15pm (ideal for families with younger children) and 11:15pm (usually quieter).
  • Cram your bag with candy as you explore the Treat Trails that weave around the Park.

NEW FOR 2025:

  • Villains Treat Trail(s): the Princess Fairytale Hall will be transformed into an enhanced Treat Trail where some familiar and fiendish faces will make surprise appearances as you wander the Trails.
  • Meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse together in their special Halloween outfits at the Town Square Theater.
  • Storybook Circus gets a Halloween makeover to become a happy haunt for families with younger children. Pluto will greet you at the entrance, Daisy and Goofy can be found inside Pete’s Silly Sideshow, DJ Ringmaster is on the decks with lights and effects all night, and the Fearless Flyers perform their amazing stunts!

Helpful tips:

  1. Pick up a special Party map, which shows you what is happening and where; you’ll find details* of Character meet and greets (*oddly, not who is where, but don’t worry we can help with that… just keep reading!), where trick-or-treat stations are located, and which attractions are available.
  2. Some of the popular Characters start meeting guests before the Party officially starts! These include:
  • Jack Skellington and Sally, who ‘come out to play’ at around 4:30pm in the Town Square Theater, Main Street USA.
  • Pooh & Friends appear from 6:30pm in The Thotful Spot, Fantasyland (near The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh).
  • Elvis Stitch will be inside the old Stitch’s Great Escape attraction (across from Monsters, Inc. in Tomorrowland) from around 6:30-6:45pm. 
  1. Opt for the second Boo-to-You Parade, unless rain is forecast (in case it is cancelled or pared-back). Liberty Square and Frontierland tend to be less crowded viewing spots.
  2. Prioritise which Characters you want to meet and join the queue early or visit during the first Parade to avoid a long wait. Queues will be shorter late at night. We’d recommend deciding your top one or two ‘must meets’ in advance. Focus on Characters that are exclusive to the Party and bring your autograph book, though some give out pre-signed cards (it can be hard to use a pen in some of the costumes!).
  3. The Party will go ahead even if it’s raining, though certain aspects may be cancelled! If it is wet, think about heading to indoor activities and consider the forecast before deciding which show(s) to attend.
  4. Use your ticket to get in early and use the time to check out any of the attractions that won’t be available during the Party; maybe have an early dinner while you’re in there!
  5. Don’t book a sit-down restaurant once the party starts, as it wastes valuable party time.
  6. Experience the attractions with special Halloween overlays: Mad Tea Party, Space Mountain, Monsters, Inc.
  7. Make use of the special Party Magic Shots, extras added by the Disney Professional photographers… just ask what they have available.
  8. Maybe save the trick-or-treating until later to avoid carrying goody-filled bags around all night! The stations are open all evening and are easy to find with their large inflatables. N.B. If you have a food allergy, ask a Cast Member for a teal-coloured bag and collect your treats in that; instead of candy, you’ll receive a teal token which you can swap for special treats at the Park’s allergy-friendly centres.
  9. If you just can’t wait to get your hands on some candy, don’t start in Fantasyland, as everyone does and you will end up in a big queue; instead, go to Adventureland. Cast Members are very generous with their scoops of candy; you might want to bring extra bags!
  10. Look out for exclusive Party merchandise at the shops throughout MK.

*Costume Rules*

Disney loves guests to dress up in Halloween costumes, however, there are some very strictly enforced rules* you need to be aware of before you get creative with the sewing machine, hockey masks and bin liners! (*Anyone whose costume fails to meet these standards may be refused entry into, and/or removed from Disney Parks, unless the costume can be modified).

Visitors aged 13 and under:
  • Costumes are encouraged.
  • Costumes masks may be worn, provided the wearer has unobstructed peripheral vision at all times. Any mask must have openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen.
Visitors aged 14 and above:
  • You may dress as your favourite Character, but you cannot pose for pictures or sign autographs for other guests.
  • Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
  • Costumes may not contain any props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
  • Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another guest.
  • Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
  • Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground, e.g. full-length Princess dresses.
  • Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
  • Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
  • Transparent wings, plastic lightsabers, toy swords and tutus are acceptable.
  • Costume headwear may be worn provided it does not cover the face.
  • Costume masks of any kind may not be worn.
