Picking which Park to visit on which day can help you breeze through attractions, enjoy the best crowd levels, and experience those iconic rides with minimal waits.
Quick Answer: What Are the Best Days to Visit Walt Disney World Parks?
For most families, Wednesday and Thursday are generally the best days to visit Walt Disney World Parks if you’re looking for lower crowds, although the best day varies depending on the Park and time of year.
- Magic Kingdom: Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday afternoon/evening
- Hollywood Studios: Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday afternoon
- EPCOT: Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning

The biggest exception is party season. On days when Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place at Magic Kingdom, the Park can be quieter during the day because regular guests often avoid the Park as it closes early. Why Does the Day You Visit Matter?
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, is one of the world’s busiest theme park destinations, and Magic Kingdom is the most visited in the world! I know from experience that if you’re hoping to skip those long queues and pack more fun into every day, knowing the best days to visit each Walt Disney World Park makes all the difference.
Walt Disney World attracts visitors from all over the world, but you’ll also see plenty of Florida locals visiting for a few hours or an evening, particularly towards the end of the working week. For families travelling from the UK and Ireland, who often have longer holidays to work with, choosing your Park days carefully can be a useful way to make the most of your time.
It’s important to remember that there is no guaranteed “quiet day” at Walt Disney World. Crowd levels can change depending on school holidays, special events, attraction closures, weather, new ride openings and how many visitors are in Orlando at the time. Think of these recommendations as a guide to help you make the best choice from the days available to you, rather than a guarantee that you’ll walk into an empty Park.
What Are the Worst Days to Visit Walt Disney World?
As well as knowing the best days to visit each Walt Disney World Park in 2026, it also really helps to know which days you should avoid! Here’s what you need to know:
Mondays can be busy across Walt Disney World, particularly at Magic Kingdom, with Saturdays also often attracting higher crowds as families arrive for the start of their holiday and local families join in the fun. If you plan your visit to avoid these peak days, you may find shorter queues and a more relaxed holiday experience.
In my experience, Wednesdays and Thursdays can be good choices, partly because many visitors split their Orlando holiday between Disney and Universal. Fridays get busier in the evenings as new visitors arrive and Orlando locals pop in after work.
Keep in mind that if a major attraction (or two) is closed for refurbishment, everyone who would have been queuing there is pushed onto the remaining rides, so wait times can spike unexpectedly and the Park can feel much busier than usual.
What Are the Best Days to Visit Each Walt Disney World Park in 2026?
The table below shows how I would prioritise the days available to me when planning a Walt Disney World holiday. It isn’t a guarantee of crowd levels, but it’s the approach I use when deciding which Park to visit on which day.

The Best Day to Visit Magic Kingdom
For generally lower crowds, Wednesday and Thursday (arriving early) are my first choices, with Sunday afternoon and evening also worth considering; it’s perfect for catching the magical evening parade. Saturdays and Mondays are the days I would avoid, if you have flexibility. During party season, visiting on party days is a smart choice: you’ll often enjoy lower crowds, since most people avoid the Park due to early closure for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
The Best Day to Visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios (DHS)
For a more relaxed experience, aim for Wednesday, Thursday, or Sunday afternoon. Hollywood Studios has several of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World, so crowds can build quickly, particularly around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. During party season, if there’s a party at Magic Kingdom, crowds will shift to DHS, so try to visit on a day when Magic Kingdom isn’t hosting one.
The Best Day to Visit EPCOT
Wednesday and Thursday are my preferred choices, with Friday also working well if you arrive early. Friday evenings and weekends can become much busier, as EPCOT is popular with Florida locals, particularly during festivals.
The Best Day to Visit Animal Kingdom
With Tropical Americas construction ongoing, the Park is operating differently than it will once the new land opens, so it’s worth checking the latest attraction and refurbishment information before your trip.
The good news is that Animal Kingdom is generally a more flexible Park to fit into your itinerary, and Wednesday is my preferred day if you have the choice.
How Do Disney Parties Affect the Best Day to Visit?
If you’re visiting during party season, don’t automatically avoid Magic Kingdom on a party day.
Party season at Walt Disney World really changes the game, especially if you’re planning your adventure from the UK or Ireland.
Between August and December, Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select dates. This has a big impact on the best days to visit the Park, and it’s something you’ll want to factor into your Disney World planning.
If your trip falls on a party day, you’re in luck – it’s a brilliant chance to enjoy Magic Kingdom with smaller crowds, since most guests skip these days due to the early closure. Arrive early (the Park usually opens at 7.30am for Early Entry (keep checking the Park opening times as they can be changed close to the date), 8.00am for regular opening) to make the most of those short queues and magical mornings. Savvy UK and Irish visitors with the exclusive Magic ticket, who want more Park action, have the option of park-hopping to another Disney Park around 4.00pm, just as party guests begin to arrive.
On the flip side, on party days, you’ll find all the other Parks, especially Hollywood Studios, are typically much busier. So, for a more relaxed experience, plan your Hollywood Studios day when there’s no party happening at Magic Kingdom (since most people will be heading there instead!).
Jollywood Nights, the separately ticketed Christmas event held at Hollywood Studios on select nights in November and December, doesn’t move the needle in the same way.
My Experience of Choosing Disney Park Days
After visiting Walt Disney World with my family over the last fifteen years, I’ve learned that choosing the right Park day can make a real difference to how your holiday feels. It won’t magically make Disney quiet as there’s no such thing as an empty Disney Park! But choosing your days carefully can help you avoid the worst of the crowds and make better use of your time.
I’ve also learned that the “best” day isn’t always the quietest day. Sometimes it’s about choosing the day that fits your plans, the weather, Park hours and what your family actually wants to do. And it’s also knowing when your family is ready for a break. Building in rest days is really important, too.
What Is the Biggest Mistake People Make When Choosing Park Days?
One of the biggest mistakes families make is choosing the right Park day but then arriving at the busiest time of the morning.
If you’re staying at a Disney Resort and have access to Early Entry, I recommend aiming to arrive around 30 to 45 minutes before Early Entry begins. If you’re staying elsewhere, aim to arrive around 30 to 45 minutes before the official Park opening and be ready for Rope Drop.
Alternatively, you can choose to arrive later in the day and stay until Park closing. What I’d try to avoid is arriving in the middle of the morning, when the Park has already filled up and many of the most popular attractions have their longest waits.

My 2026 and current 2027 Park Day Strategy
If I were planning a Walt Disney World holiday in 2026 (and early to mid 2027), I’d start by looking at the days available during my trip and then work backwards from any events or experiences that were important to my family.
I’d generally prioritise Wednesday and Thursday for the Parks where possible, if visiting during party season, I would definitely consider a party day for Magic Kingdom if the earlier closing time worked for our plans, and avoid Saturdays for EPCOT if I had flexibility. I’d also make sure I had some quieter days built into the holiday rather than trying to visit a Park from open to close every day.
The most important thing, though, is not to plan your entire holiday around crowd levels alone. The “perfect” Park day isn’t much use if it means your family is exhausted, you’ve missed an event you really wanted to see, or you’re rushing from one side of Walt Disney World to the other.

Absolutely! Animal Kingdom remains well worth visiting in 2026. While construction for Tropical Americas is underway, Pandora – The World of Avatar remains a highlight, and the Park also offers excellent shows, animal experiences such as Kilimanjaro Safaris and dining.
