On select evenings from August through October, Magic Kingdom transforms into a celebration of all things spooky and fun. But with ticket prices ranging from $119 to $229 plus tax per person, you might be wondering: Is it actually worth the extra cash?

Yes, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is worth it for families who want to experience exclusive entertainment (like the Boo-to-You Parade), meet rare Disney characters, and enjoy shorter ride wait times.

What is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticketed event that happens each year at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. This spooktacular event takes place after regular park hours and offerings include exclusive entertainment, Halloween-themed food and drinks, trick-or-treating, photo opportunities, exclusive merchandise and character greetings. The party runs only on specific nights, so be sure to check the dates below to plan your trip.

When is Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party 2026?

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party started on the 7th of August and runs for 38 nights throughout August, September and October. Party guests can access Magic Kingdom from 4pm and the Party runs from 7pm until 12.00am.

Tickets range from $119 to $229 plus tax, depending on the date and popular nights sell out fast (dates correct as of September 9th).

Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026 worth it?

Quick answer: For the right family, absolutely – but I wouldn’t recommend it automatically. At up to $229 per person, it’s a high extra cost, and you need to make the most of the evening to feel you’re getting your money’s worth.

Here’s who I think this party is best suited to:

Who will likely love it?

• Families who want Halloween without the scary bits. Disney make the whole night more fun spooky than scary.
• Parade and fireworks fans: we know Disney can put on a fabulous parade, but when you see what they can do at the parties, it is off the chart! Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade and Not-So-Spooky Spectacular are two of the biggest reasons why so many families keep going back. And these are extra special, as you can’t see either of them during a normal Magic Kingdom day.
• Rare Character Fans: if you want to experience characters you don’t normally see in the Parks, as well as some of your faves in their Halloween costumes, then this is your chance!
• Anyone who wants to ride with shorter wait times: With limited tickets sold for each party, ride times for Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides can be low, especially later in the evening when some families start heading home.

Who Might Want to Skip It?

• Families with little ones who will be done by 9.00pm! As the party runs until midnight, you’ll be paying a premium for a night you won’t be able to fully experience.
• Anyone whose holiday budget is already stretched. Don’t feel you have to do this; it isn’t worth it if there is something else you would rather spend your money on instead. You will still experience all the beautiful autumn décor, along with select seasonal treats and merch, during regular park days.
• You are expecting an empty park! Whilst party crowds are lower than a typically busy Park day, it can still feel hectic, especially in Main Street when crowds gather for the parade and fireworks.

If you love exclusive entertainment, want to experience the magical Disney Halloween atmosphere, meet some rare characters, and your budget allows, then it’s a must-do! Just be sure to show up with a bit of a plan to avoid it feeling like a very expensive night of trick-or-treating!  

What’s New at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026?

Every year, Walt Disney World love to sprinkle some extra magic into their parties, and whilst they keep the headline entertainment the same, there is always something new to look forward to, and this year is no different! 

• Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup: you’ll get to join Stitch, Lilo and Angel at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland, where Stitch is hosting a masquerade party (Disney dance party) that keeps changing! All night long, he’ll be delving into Lilo’s trunk and changing costumes as he dances along to lots of pop songs.
• Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash: Over in Adventureland, Captain Jack Sparrow has dropped anchor to lead a swashbuckling series of pirate antics. With live music, a stunt show and pirate training (and sweets), what’s not to love?
• Destination DecenDANCE: Located inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, this new musical hot spot is perfect for young partygoers and fans of Disney Descendants who want to boogie down. 

What Happens at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026?

On arrival, you’ll be directed by signage and Cast Members to pick up your event wristband. You will need this to access rides, entertainment and trick-or-treat spots after 7pm. If you’re already inside Magic Kingdom during the day, you can pick up your wristband until 7pm from one of the following in-park locations:

• Near Tortuga Tavern (Adventureland)
• Fantasy Faire (Fantasyland): near Mickey’s Philharmagic
• Tomorrowland: near Monster’s, Inc. Laugh Floor

After 7.00pm you’ll need to go to the front of the Park.

What Entertainment Is at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026?

There are several exclusive entertainment experiences during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, including the Boo-to-You Parade, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks and character experiences that aren’t available during a normal Magic Kingdom day.

Trick-or-Treating at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

One of the best perks of the party is trick-or-treating your way around the 13 designated treat trails weaving across Magic Kingdom.

All guests receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag when they arrive, though you can bring your own (larger) bag if you prefer. Each trail spot has a huge, glowing inflatable marker so you won’t miss it! Plus, check your party map for locations. All of the treats are individually wrapped.

Party Food & Merchandise at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

If the free candy isn’t quite enough, there is a whole host of delicious specialty menu offerings available exclusively during party hours. On my list this year are the Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger and the Cursed Cowboy Fries (both brand new for 2026), and the Cruella Cookie Sandwich for dessert! You can use the My Disney Experience app shortly before the party starts to place a mobile order.

For merchandise lovers, the Headless Horseman Ghost and Haunted Mansion Hatbox Ghost popcorn buckets are incredibly popular (available at popcorn carts near Cinderella Castle). You can find the full line of event merchandise at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A., but be warned, the queues can eat up a lot of your limited party time.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Characters 2026: Who Can You Meet?

More than 20 characters appear during the party, including some rare characters and favourites wearing Halloween costumes. Jack and Sally are among the most popular, so expect long waits if meeting them is a priority. Other popular characters include Pooh and Friends in their Halloween costumes, Ariel and Eric, to name a few.

Be sure to prioritise your favourites, as there are only so many hours in the party, especially if you also want to catch the parade, stage show and fireworks. Check the My Disney Experience app for characters set times.

🎃 Where to Find Characters at Mickey’s Halloween Party 2026

Meeting characters is one of the most popular activities at the party. Because lines can get incredibly long, it helps to know exactly where everyone is located before the event kicks off.

Note: Some lines open early! Look for the early-bird icons below to save valuable party time.

🕒 Early Entry Characters (Lines Open Before 7:00 PM)

• Jack Skellington and Sally – Located inside Town Square Theatre on Main Street, U.S.A. 🏃‍♂️ Early Bird: Queues typically start forming at 4.00pm, and characters often arrive around 4.30pm.
• Winnie the Pooh and Friends (Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet in costumes) – Located at The Thotful Spot in Fantasyland. 🏃‍♂️ Early Bird: Meets usually start around 6.30pm.

Available only as you enter the park and wraps up strictly before 8.00pm.

• Blair Lockward (The Haunted Mansion’s Chief Steward) – Welcomes guests along the bypass.
• Lady Fermotta (New for 2026!) – Interactive greeting along the walkway.
• The Gravediggers – Exclusive photo opportunity.

• Gaston – Roaming near Gaston’s Tavern.
• Belle – Located near Enchanted Tales with Belle (also appears on the treat trail).
• Ariel and Prince Eric – Located near Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. (Very popular, as this duo is rare)
• Donald Duck and Daisy Duck – Wearing Halloween costumes inside Pete’s Silly Sideshow.
• Pluto – Greeting outside the Storybook Circus Tent.
• Goofy – Located at Mickey’s PhilharMagic (also appears on the treat trail).
• Alice in Wonderland Friends (including the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and Tweedledee and Tweedledum) – Located near the Mad Tea Party ride. These characters alternate; check the My Disney Experience app for their set times.

👑 Princess Fairytale Hall (Fantasyland)

• Maleficent – Appearing inside the regular queue line.
• The Evil Queen – Appearing inside the regular queue line.

🤠 Frontierland

• The Hitchhiking Ghosts (Phineas, Ezra, and Gus) – Appearing at the Diamond Horseshoe Stage
• Country Bears (Shaker, Wendell, and Big Al) – Roaming characters wandering throughout Frontierland.

🏴‍☠️ Adventureland

• Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, and Genie – Rotating meet-and-greets at the Agrabah Marketplace.

🪦 Liberty Square

• Madame Renatta, Miss Carlotta, and Broome the Butler – Performing live, spooky interactions outside in the Haunted Mansion Graveyard.

What Rides are Open During the Party?

Most Magic Kingdom attractions remain open during the party, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, TRON Lightcycle/Run and Big Thunder Mountain. Because the park closes to regular day guests at 6.00pm, wait times will disappear from the My Disney Experience app between 6.00pm and 7.00pm, but rides remain open for party-goers.

One of the big perks of ticketed events can be the shorter queues for some of Magic Kingdom’s most popular attractions. Rides such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Big Thunder Mountain and TRON will still be busy, but the wait times will come down later at night, with many attractions having five- or ten-minute waits most of the evening.

As always, rides are subject to closure at any time.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026 Costume Rules for adults and kids

Disney loves when guests dress up, and this is the one time of the year when adults can join in the costume fun! However, Florida remains incredibly hot even into autumn. According to historical data, the average temperatures during October in Orlando are 89°F (31°C) – so think carefully about what to wear! Disney strictly enforces the following costume rules, and anyone failing to meet them may be denied entry:

Visitors aged 13 and under:

• Costumes are encouraged.
• Costume masks may be worn, provided the wearer has unobstructed peripheral vision at all times. Any mask must have openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen.

Visitors aged 14 and above:

• You may dress as your favourite Character, but you cannot pose for pictures or sign autographs for other guests.
• Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
• Costumes may not contain any props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
• Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another guest.
• Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
• Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground, e.g. full-length Princess dresses.
• Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
• Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
• Transparent wings, plastic lightsabers, toy swords and tutus are acceptable.
• Costume headwear may be worn provided it does not cover the face.
• Costume masks of any kind may not be worn.

Alternative Idea: Try “Disneybounding”, where you use everyday, lightweight clothes to match your favourite character’s colour scheme!

What happens if it rains at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Whilst it is usually the case that ‘even a rainy day at Walt Disney World is better than a day at home’, you may not feel the same if it coincides with a party that you have paid $200+ for tickets for! Especially if the weather is so bad (as has happened to us at a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party), that all of the special and party-exclusive entertainment is cancelled!

Because the party season falls directly within Florida’s storm season, heavy downpours can happen. The party will continue rain or shine, but outdoor entertainment like the parade, stage show, and fireworks are subject to delays or cancellation. In addition, some attractions will not be operational (check the MDE app to see which rides are affected). Trick-or-treat trails will remain open, and Disney recommends heading into retail shops like the Emporium or quick-service spots until the rain passes.

Can You Get a Refund If the Party Is Rained Out?

Walt Disney World can’t control the weather (sadly). So it’s all about making the most of a situation, offering alternatives and having plans in place so some event offerings can be moved indoors.

Per the official terms, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. However, if a party is substantially disrupted or completely washed out, Disney often issues “Guest Recovery” at their discretion.

In our experience, Disney is proactive. If a night is a total washout, they may automatically add a 1-day regular theme park ticket to your My Disney Experience account. If you are a UK traveller or anyone for whom a 1-day ticket isn’t useful, you can visit City Hall to politely explain your situation. They may be able to offer an alternative, such as a gift card or a refund.

Worth noting: if the party was not rained out and you have quibbles over maybe a ride being down, complaints are going to be met with more scrutiny.
